About Crossy Road
Crossy Road is the "why did the chicken cross the road" game. You tap to hop your character forward across roads, rivers, and train tracks, trying not to get squished, flattened, or drowned. It looks cute and pixelated, then it kills you in two seconds.
It's an endless hopper — there's no finish line, you just keep going forward and the game keeps trying to stop you. Every screen is a new little puzzle of timing.
Why It's Harder Than It Looks
The cute look is a trap. Underneath the pixel art it's a tight timing game where one tap too many or one tap too few ends your run. Cars don't slow down for you, trains don't stop, and the river drowns you if you miss a log.
The sneaky part is the eagle. Stand still too long deciding your next move and a bird swoops in and grabs you. The game punishes hesitation as much as mistakes.
How to Play
Hop forward one square at a time. Avoid traffic on roads, ride logs and lily pads across rivers, and dodge trains. Your score is based on how far forward you get before you die.
Controls
- Up / W: Hop forward
- Down / S: Hop backward (yes, sometimes you need to)
- Left / A: Move left
- Right / D: Move right
Tips and Tricks
- Keep moving. The eagle gets you if you idle. Even a sideways hop resets the timer and keeps you alive.
- Read the lanes before you commit. Glance at the next road, find the gap, then hop — don't tap blind and hope.
- On rivers, plan two logs ahead. Jumping onto a log is easy; knowing where your next log is before the current one drifts away is what keeps you alive.
- Backwards is a real move. If a car is coming and you're stuck, hopping back a square beats dying. Don't be afraid to retreat.
FAQ
Why do I keep getting grabbed by a bird?
That's the eagle — it comes if you stand still too long. Keep hopping, even sideways, and it leaves you alone.
Is there an end?
No, it's endless. You're chasing a high score, not a finish line.
Does it work on phones?
Yes — it runs in the browser on touch devices with tap and swipe controls.
